Break-Through Tool for Virus Quantification
A compact and easy-to-use instrument and assay, the Virus Counter provides a direct measurement of total virus particle concentration within minutes. Unlike lengthy microbiological analysis methods such as plaque titer assays, which can require days to complete, the Virus Counter provides accurate and quantitative results in less than 10 minutes. The instrument requires only minimal technical training and its small footprint makes it an easy addition to the lab.
The Virus Counter can serve as a cost-effecitve and rapid alternative to virus titer determined by plaque assay for steps in your process where insight into total virus concentration would enhance productivity.
The Virus Counter is a unique, “personal” flow cytometer designed exclusively for virus quantification. Similar to virus quantification by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the Virus Counter yields a total (infectious + non-infectious) virus concentration measurement. Unlike TEM however, the assay can be completed in minutes at a per sample cost ~1000x lower than for TEM.
The instrument and assay are designed to work for both RNA and DNA viruses, such as influenza virus, baculovirus, adenovirus, dengue, coronavirus, rubella, respiratory syncytial virus, and cytomegalovirus. The Virus Counter will benefit those companies involved in vaccine research and development as well as antiviral research and other virus related applications.
