Microarray Scientist
This position is responsible for leading microarray manufacturing, contributing to microarray design, and operating microarray printing equipment. The position will also regularly be involved in cross-functional teams for project planning and execution and will act as the internal subject matter expert (SME) for microarray technology. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in life science with an understanding of advanced molecular biology and surface science.
Key Responsibilities
- Microarray Laboratory Management: Oversee all laboratory operations related to microarray manufacturing, ensuring alignment with established project goals.
- Design & Manufacture: Create protein and DNA microarrays utilizing ultra-low volume liquid handling systems.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Identify, diagnose, and resolve process issues. Document trends and implement corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with Quality Assurance.
- Assay Troubleshooting: Recognize potential assay issues, troubleshoot effectively, and resolve problems to support project success.
- Project Management: Contribute to project planning by defining realistic budgets, scopes of work, and timelines, and ensure adherence to these plans for expert services projects.
- Custom Microarray Development: Assist in the development of custom microarrays with a focus on resource efficiency and waste minimization.
- Collaboration: Partner with R&D and manufacturing teams to innovate and develop new microarray products.
- Instrument Operation & Maintenance: Implement and execute basic operating procedures and troubleshooting for microarray equipment.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to ISO 13485 standards through proper documentation, ongoing training, and management of non-conformances according to the company’s quality management system.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology or a related field.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in the life sciences, with a preference for candidates with expertise in surface chemistry.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in troubleshooting instrumentation with strong mechanical aptitude.
- Attention to Detail: Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to follow protocols and maintain accurate records in an electronic lab notebook.
- Research & Analysis: Proven capability in independent experimental design, data analysis, and results summarization.
- Manufacturing Mindset: Ability to manage manufacturing activities in a dynamic, commercially driven environment, meeting deadlines while maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude.

Base Salary: $75,000-90,000/year
